The Union of Education Workers (UTE) denounced on Monday increase in cases of coronavirus in eBuenos Aires schools and confirmed that in one of the establishments, which works in the Educational Pole of the Saavedra neighborhood, 20 positive cases were detected among the teaching staff, for which it demanded that “the use of the chinstrap be mandatory again.”
The union organization stated in a statement that “since last week, and fundamentally today, in the various secretariats of the UTE, we have received complaints from many schools in which the positive cases of covid have increased“.
“The most serious case is observed in the Comprehensive Interdisciplinary School 1, of school district 15, of the Polo Saavedrabuilding shared with the annex of the Special Education School 11in which to date they add up to more than 20 positive cases among teaching staff“, they warned.
For UTE, to “the already serious situation is added the reduction of testing centers to carry out swabs and the difficulty that teachers encounter when trying to upload the positive case in the MIA platform license system”, in allusion to the application to request and manage licenses.
Faced with this scenario, the teachers’ union organization questioned that “neither the head of government nor the minister do not speak out or increase the care measures” against the coronavirus.
“We demand that the CABA government make the use of a mask mandatory again, strengthen protection measures and increase the delivery of protection and hygiene elements,” they concluded.
In the City of Buenos Aires, meanwhile, 6,448 new cases of coronavirus and 12 deaths were reported this Monday in the last week, which means 86.57% more infections compared to the previous week (3,456) and triple of deaths.
