A trial jury suspended a family judge from La Plata, accused of exercising workplace violence and from the Buenos Aires Judicial Association (AJB) they considered that this constitutes “a fundamental step”.
The Trial Jury, chaired by Supreme Court President Hilda Kogan suspended Judge Karina Bigliardi, head of the Family Court No. 7 of La Plata, due to acts of workplace violence against the personnel under his charge.
In a statement, the AJB specified that “among the facts that could be proven in the process are shouting, insults, extreme pressure, communications until late at night, delegation of their own functions, permanent reassignment of tasks, permanent illegal surveillance of through the cameras, inappropriate and violent opinions about the private life of the workers, insults, kicks on the wall, blows on the furniture, and other demonstrations of irrational fury”.

“This measure constitutes a fundamental step to banish workplace violence from the Judiciary. It is a joint achievement of the union and the workers, who stood firm, encouraged themselves and decided to denounce Judge Bigliardi and at the same time reaffirms that organizing and trusting in the collective struggle is the only way to achieve solutions to our labor problems” , highlighted Oscar Yenni, union secretary of the AJB.
For his part, Martín Vizcarra, general secretary of the La Plata Departmental AJB, remarked that from the departmental “we will always defend the dignity of the workers. We are not going to allow any official, magistrate or prosecutor to exercise violence, belittle or mistreat the workers. That is why we are here as a union, to listen and accompany those who are going through similar situations”.

The jury is made up of deputies Débora Sabrina Galán and Maite Milagros Alvado, and senators Gustavo Soos, Gabriela Demaría and Francisco Manuel De Durañona y Vedia.
In addition, they are accompanied by co-lawyers Martín Rivas, Martín Alejandro Sánchez, Dora Teresa Curcio, Alberto Biglieri and Lisandro Daniel Benito.
The judge had been denounced before the Buenos Aires Attorney General by the prosecutor Marcelo Romero, head of the UFI No. 6 of La Plata, for the crime of repeated abuse of authority in the terms established in article 248 of the Penal Code.
