MIAMI, United States. — A total landslide was reported this Wednesday in the Havana municipality of Playa, they confirmed to CubaNet eyewitness sources of the event.
The house where the incident occurred was inhabited by an elderly woman, who was trapped under the rubble.
The building where the collapse occurred was located on 66th Street, between 23rd and 25th Avenues, Buenavista neighborhood.
“The woman lost her home due to resources that the government has not given her,” a source close to the event told this newspaper.
Images that this newspaper had access to showed the moment in which a command from the Fire Department arrived at the place, although the first to attend were the residents of the area.
Agents of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) and State Security also arrived at the site of the collapse.
At the close of this information, the status of the woman who inhabited the place was unknown.
Due to the age of many of its buildings, Havana is one of the provinces with the worst state of its housing stock. For this reason, year after year, with the arrival of the rainy season, landslides and fires generated by power outages are common.
