During this day, a video went viral on the networks showing an official from the Investigative Police threatening a driver with a submachine gun on the Costanera Norte highway.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 8, when a woman in her private vehicle along with her two daughters, aged 15 and 16, were rebuked by a PDI delegation. At that moment, an official can be seen yelling at them to slow down while he opens the door of the car that was transporting them and threatens her with a submachine gun.
As indicated 24 hours the PDI car would correspond to those used in escorts for the high authorities of the country, such as the President of the Republic, the general director of Carabineros or the institution itself.
“A procession was going along the left side of the tracks (…) this person takes out a weapon that after seeing it calmly I realize that it is not just any weapon, but rather a submachine gun, so for me it was difficult at that time to follow driving. I find that his actions did not correspond, “said the affected woman to the same medium.
In addition, he added that “I was not overtaking him (…) he was yelling at me that I had to slow down,” he also pointed out that “I was bad, my daughters who, I insist, are minors, were bad, it does not belong to them live this because we weren’t doing anything to them”.

PDI response
The Investigative Police through a statement, indicated that “regarding the dissemination of video captured on a highway in Santiago, it is reported that, effectively, the vehicle corresponds to the Investigative Police.”
Likewise, they specify that “in this context, there are defined protocols for the security capsules and that in this case their correct applicability will be evaluated.”
“Within its transparency policies, the PDI is always willing to improve processes and guide people who could be affected by a situation involving our officials,” the text closes.
