They promote work groups to strengthen productive capacities

Starting this Monday, the Science and Technology meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Venezuela 2023 is taking place in Caracas, in order to promote the exchange of knowledge and scientific activity, with a view to consolidating integration and regional cooperation in this area.

During the activity, seven work groups were set up focused on areas of regional interest such as Sustainable Food/Food Sustainability, Health/Communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as Spatial Capacities and Mitigation and adaptation of the climate crisis.

In statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, the Minister for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, indicated that there is an initiative to strengthen capacities for the region applied towards food sovereignty, in order to guarantee food production in the region, which be healthy and secure in terms of sovereignty.

He stated that the topics of science applied to the ethics of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, daily life, education, production, and the economy were addressed.

One of the areas that they also focused on is the creation of vaccines, highlighting the vaccines developed by Cuba for the attention of the pandemic.

In this regard, he stated that the same infrastructure and industrial capacity for biotechnology research, the capacities in the region, the entire pharmaceutical and business park is available to generate better conditions for research and development locally, with an eye on tropical diseases, endemic diseases that allows to generate a great community of knowledge and technology.

Creation of a research center

On the other hand, he referred to the proposal presented by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to create a research center for the integration of the region.

In this regard, he stated that this is an advanced proposal that adds to the joint integration of research project agendas, innovation development that allow the promotion of innovation culture.

“We are presenting the initiative of President Nicolás Maduro for a research center that allows us to interrelate and complement science and technology communities to think about science and technology from Latin America,” he said.

This Monday, the Venezuelan head of state He indicated that science and technology must be at the forefront of the construction projects of the continent, in diverse topics such as agriculture, health, climate, education, food production, robotics industry and artificial intelligence.

“I am sure that if each of us in our countries make progress in these matters and unite the efforts of our innovators, scientists and technologists, Latin America and the Caribbean will be up to the task”, he assured.
