It was reported that the original painting of the patrician Juan Pablo Duarte in Pedernales, made under the signature of the artist Federico Velásquez, in July 2014, was recently distorted, provoking criticism in various traditional media and social networks.
The president of the Duartiano Institute, Dr. Wilson Gómez Ramírez, urged the municipal authorities that represent the central government in Pedernales to correct a painting by Juan Pablo Duarte, which is exhibited in the Central Park of that city, where the patrician is shown his features distorted physiques.
The head of the organization deplored this image that, according to what he said, does not correspond to the facial characteristics of the father of the country, and defined it as desecration that violates articles 6 and 7 of Law 127-01, dated July 27, 2001.
