The national director of Integrative Policies of the Ministry of Social Development, Rafael Klejzer, presented in Mar del Plata the Civil Association of the National Food Company of the Southeast (Acenas).
“We came to raise the importance and role of public and popular food production in Argentina, which is so necessary,” Klejzer told Télam at the CGT headquarters in Mar del Plata, where the meeting was held.
According to the official, it is necessary to “recover the sovereignty and power of the State in planning food production in Argentina, today in the hands of the market.”
Likewise, he clarified that work is being done to “strengthen pre-existing public companies”, provincial and municipal, such as those in San Luis, Catamarca, La Rioja and La Pampa.
“We want to strengthen the provincial and municipal public companies that are responding where the market speculates, shortages such as milk, olive oil, fish and meat,” he stated.
Before the union leaders and small and medium-sized producers who participated in the meeting, he stressed that “in the province of Buenos Aires, the government of Axel Kicillof ordered the construction of 15 refrigerators (not slaughterhouses).”
“These are tools so that the State can plan food production, have witness prices and deconcentrate a bit the sector that is the one that sets prices in the country, guaranteeing prices according to wages,” he stressed.
In conclusion, he stated that “promoting better practices and access to food is the purpose and denouncing those who fail to comply and speculate on the future of our raw materials and the nutrition of the people.”
