They prepare a mask decree: “Living together without interrupting our activities”

Hoy Paraguay

Learning to live with Covid-19 safely and responsibly, without this implying interrupting activities, is the new premise of Public Health. On Monday, the Executive will make important announcements about the mandatory nature of the mask.

The “sharp decrease” in the number of deaths, as well as daily infections and hospitalizations, are the indicators that are taken into account to lift the health emergency.

“This makes us work on a better coexistence with the virus, on living in a situation that does not interrupt our economic, social, and educational activities,” explained Dr. Héctor Castro, director of the Expanded Immunization Program, in an interview with 730 AM. .

He confirmed that an important announcement will be made on Monday about the use of face masks, which by law remains mandatory in closed spaces.

For his part, the director of Surveillance, Guillermo Sequera, justified the lifting of the emergency. “We do not have on the epidemiological horizon a new variant of concern that is appearing and we believe that it is an interesting epidemiological moment to take that step.”

The head of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency, Hernán Huttemann, announced a week ago that on Monday, April 18, they would formalize by decree some measures that will render certain provisions applied during the pandemic null and void.
