Montecristi.- More than 32 forest firefighters from the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources attached to Dajabón and Restoration, extinguished the fire registered in the El Morro de Montecristi National Park.
According to the first reports, an electrical failure in one of the light poles in the buffer zone of the protected area, has been what caused the sinister which consumed 52 tasks.
The Minister of the Environment, Orlando Jorge Mera, ordered an investigation to corroborate this first information and determine, if necessary, actions so that it does not happen again.
Forest firefighters worked from the early hours of this Friday morning to completely extinguish the sources that could start the incident again.

El Morro de Montecristi National Park is a protected area with one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Dominican territory. It has a dimension of 48,442 square kilometers.
Last November 2021, an eco-friendly trail was inaugurated that allows a safe and welcoming tour of the park.
The trail leads visitors to see the emblematic El Zapato key up close and offers access to the beach. It has a path of 190 linear meters and has rest areaslike a viewpoint, all designed to provide the visitor with a pleasant experience, with greater permanence, comfort and safety.
