The body of the 2nd sergeant of the National Guard Ender Fabián Villas Jaimes, was located last Saturday in the Yapacana National Park, Amazonas, according to police sources. The soldier had been missing since June 17.
The body was located by local indigenous people, who did not get the AK-103 rifle that the sergeant was carrying. A Cicpc commission picked up the body and began an investigation to clarify that death, the source explained.
Currently the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb) maintains a deployment in the Yapacana National Park aimed at dismantling criminal structures that illegally exploit existing mines in those territories.
During this deployment, the military have captured groups of foreigners who worked in illegal mining, as reported by General Domingo Hernández Lárez, head of the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Ceofanb).
