Around noon this Saturday, parents from the municipality of La Guardia (Santa Cruz) and authorities reached an agreement regarding school items, for which the blockade that has prevented traffic in the region for three days was lifted.
The protesters demanded 400 items, but finally accepted the offer to be given 60 items and, after an evaluation, gradually given another 40.
“They are going to give us the first 60 items from next week. A commitment has been signed with the pertinent authorities so that the other 40 (items) are not handed over gradually,” informed Carmela Rojas, president of the District Board, to Unitel.
Rojas assured that the commitment was signed both by authorities of the national government, as well as by the departmental director of education, social control, rural and urban teachers, in addition to the parents’ council.

“We are sorry, we know that it is a detriment to the population, but it is the only way to make ourselves heard,” he added.
The announcement took place on the third day of the blockade at kilometer 13 of the Doble Vía a La Guardia, in Santa Cruz. The day before, the mayor of La Guardia, Rufino Corea, stated that as an authority he decided to join the demand that the parents of the students have, a demand that dates back 20 years.
“The Government has a historical debt with us, we need more than 400 items that they owe us, it is not possible that after 20 years we continue paying and continue paying, is education not free? We ask the Government, President Arce to put his hand on his chest, ”he said.
