They found the body of a climber who fell into the void while climbing a hill

The body of a 34-year-old climber, who fell into the void on May 21 while climbing Cerro Tolosa, in the Mendoza town of Las Cuevas, was found by Rescue Patrol personnel.

The team toured the area where other climbers had indicated that Villardel’s body was found after falling into the void of Cerro Tolosa, some 5,300 meters above sea level.

Once at the scene, the Rescue personnel transferred the body to the Forensic Medical Corps (CMF) for the corresponding expertise and subsequent investigation by the jurisdiction prosecutor’s office.

The incident occurred last Saturday but was only made known this Tuesday after the discovery of a friend of the victim, who was found with the beginning of hypothermia by two men who were walking by the place.

In his account to the police, Villardel’s expedition companion said that when he began the descent he managed to find him but he had already died.

Once the complaint was made, the Rescue Patrol personnel planned the operation according to the climatic conditions of the place, so they deployed the team on Thursday and after several hours they found the climber’s body.
