Ceará, the best team in the group stage, with 100% success, will face The Strongest (Bolivia), which was third in Group B of Libertadores.

If they advance, Vozão could face a Brazilian opponent, São Paulo, if Tricolor eliminates Universidad Católica (Chile). The duel will re-edit the 1993 Libertadores final, won by the São Paulo club, which had Rogério Ceni (current coach and then reserve goalkeeper) in the squad.

Atlético-GO is on the other side of the bracket, with the possibility of facing Alvinegro or São Paulo in an eventual semifinal. Dragon’s rival in the round of 16 will be Olímpia (Paraguay).

The two remaining Brazilians are on the other side of the bracket. Santos will face off against Deportivo Táchira (Venezuela) and Internacional will face Colo Colo (Chile). A meeting between Peixe and Colorado can only take place in the semifinals.

The draw was held at the headquarters of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), in Asunción (Paraguay). The round of 16 matches are scheduled for the last week of June and the first of July, on dates and times that are yet to be announced.

The clubs that ended the group stage of the Sudamericana in the lead of the respective keys – the situation of the five Brazilians – do the duel back as home team.

For their presence in the knockout stage, participants secure US$ 500,000 (R$ 2.3 million, at the current price). The teams that advance to the quarterfinals guarantee a prize pool of US$ 600 thousand (R$ 2.8 million).

The semifinalists will be entitled to US$ 800 thousand (R$ 3.8 million). The runner-up will receive US$ 2 million (R$ 9.5 million) and the winner will receive US$ 5 million (R$ 23.7 million).
