On Sunday night, around 8:30 p.m., in a joint effort between the police headquarters of Tacuarembó and Cerro Largo, the authorities stopped three vehicles that were circulating on Route 8. Behind them came a van that they disguised as an ambulance. to transport drugs.
After checking the vehicles, the Police seized a total of 140 bricks of cocaine weighing 172,207 kilos and 240 bricks of base paste, for 251,406 kilos. The total of the confiscated drug amounts to 423,612 kilos.
The substances were destined for different outlets in the departments of Maldonado, Rocha, Lavalleja and Montevideo. It is not ruled out that at least one part was bound for Europe, where the sale price is higher. “Pitágoras” also involved carrying out at least five raids in the departments of Montevideo and Canelones. In addition to the drug, the Police managed to seize various weapons and currency.
