They find coves with money and cocaine in cars

Money and cocaine seized by DNCD in two vehicles.

Eight hundred twenty-five thousand pesos and 15 packages of cocaine were found in two hidden compartments in the same number of vehicles that had been seized several days ago by the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), linked to the trafficking of another 119 drug packages.

The DNCD explained that they discovered two coves in the same number of vehicles, which were occupied through operations carried out recently in the Ensanche Piantini, National District and in the municipality of Baní, Peravia province.

He indicated that in the case of the Ensanche Piantini, where 30 packages of cocaine were confiscated and three men were arrested, a more exhaustive search was carried out on the gray Hyundai SUV, Santa Fe, with electronic and manual equipment, in the that RD$825,000.00 and a package of cocaine were discovered in a cove in the front part of the vehicle.

In the presence of a prosecutor, they proceeded to open the secret compartments, finding under the right front seat, the package of cocaine and the indicated sum of money.

The authorities also reported that in the Ford truck, model F-150, license plate PP762106, in which two people were arrested last week and 89 packages of cocaine were confiscated, in the municipality of Baní, another cove was detected in the front of the vehicle (dashboard), with 14 other packets of the substance.

The DNCD explained that both the Public Ministry and this institution have as a rule to carry out all the inspections that are necessary, to the vehicles that are retained in drug trafficking operations, to rule out in their entirety that they are contaminated with some illegal act.

The National Directorate for Drug Control reported that the 15 packages, found in pockets in both vehicles, occupied in operations carried out in Baní and the Ensanche Piantini, were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif).
