The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) extended until Friday, August 19, the warning of prevention due to the increase in waves by deep sea in the Panamanian Pacific.

According to the Department of Hydrometeorology of Etesa, waves between 0.5 and 3.0 meters high and periods of 12 to 17 seconds are expected.

For this Thursday flooding is expected in beach areas and Pacific coasts due to waves. While for Friday it is expected that the residues of the bottom sea will continue generating abundant rip currents and moderately rough waters.

Possible flooding is expected in beach areas and Pacific coasts, due to strong waves.

Sinaproc asks to abide by prevention measures:

  • Bathers and captains of light boats must take the usual security measures.
  • Avoid carrying out activities in coastal areas.
  • If you are setting sail in light craft, make sure you have personal flotation devices and a working radio.
  • If you live near coastal areas, be aware of waves that can be life-threatening and cause flooding.

Sinaproc urges the population to stay informed through official sources of any event that may be registered and to take preventive measures. For emergencies contact 520-4429.
