A few weeks ago the Twitter account @ElCanillitadeBeccar changed its name to @ElFuturoLibrerodeTalar, to account for a change in the work activity of its owner. But, strictly speaking, the great change in Diego Monrroy’s life began exactly on April 25, 2021 when he posted a decision he had made with his partner, Jimena: “We are going to face Jime with a adoption process. We were wide in the age range that we accept because more than 90% of people who intend to adopt only want babies, and we find it unfair and sad. Tell your experiences, to take more courage. Thanks!!”.
ATTENTION you tweeters!!! news about #Adoption
Today they gave us the pre-adoptive custody of #girlof12 !!!

We have nothing but words of thanks for Judge Ignacio and for the social worker Lorena. geniuses! (1/2)– ElFuturoLibreroDeTalar (@diemonrroy) February 8, 2022
Since then, each of their posts has received thousands of hearts and replies and the account has become a space to promote adoption and especially, based on the experience of Diego and Jimena, that of children who are not babies. “The truth is that I myself asked for testimonials when we were about to enroll in the Single Registry of Applicants for Guardianship for Adoptive Purposes (RUAGA) to take more courage and from then on an unstoppable wave of love was put together, in addition to putting me in contact with many people who went through similar experiences. So I decided to continue telling so that the story reaches more people and encourages them to adopt older children.
Since the arrival of #girlof12 home we have a schedule of series:
– The ones we see all 3 together (now Locke and key)
– The ones she and Jime see (now Anne with an E)
– The ones she and I see (now with goosebumps)
– The one she sees alone (Flash)#AdoptBigChildren❤️– ElFuturoLibreroDeTalar (@diemonrroy) January 25, 2022
That crusade that had a fundamental milestone on Tuesday, when Monrroy told the “uncles on Twitter” that they had obtained pre-adoptive custody and #NiñaDe12 was beginning to transform into #DaughterOf12.
#AdoptBigChildren
I’m not going to cry alone. As a result of the consultation of a person for our process of #Adoption I started looking for the note in the magazine “OH LA LÁ” that gave us the impulse to find out more about the subject. I leave them here:

Before that, the father of the heart had shared with his followers every moment of the process from the first family trip of three to Chascomús to the series they chose to watch together, the visit to the bookstore or an air park where only the girls They dared to fly through the air. Each story and each event earned the family a place in the hearts of his followers. That is why many celebrated with them the arrival of a 12-year-old girl and then the decision of the Justice to give them to the couple.
“Adopt big kids!!! Do not be afraid, put aside prejudices, many girls and boys aged 5 or 6 and older, and groups of little sisters are waiting for the opportunity to have a family. Give yourselves and give them the chance to be happy”, posted the neighbor of El Talar de Pacheco a few hours after the realization of his family dream, when the expression with inclusive language #AdoptenNiñesGrandes had already become a hashtag on the networks and the reason for multiple conversations or retweeting of information disseminated by different courts about older children or even adolescents in waiting to be adopted.
#Adoption For those who want to spread the word, or if they are interested but have doubts, here is the graph that we must flatten, we need more people who want to adopt older children.
Let’s spread!! Here is the link to the official guide on the subject: https://t.co/eeZ55abJrQ pic.twitter.com/yOnmGkUuja– ElFuturoLibreroDeTalar (@diemonrroy) October 28, 2021
“Each tweet on the subject contains the hashtag #Adopcion or #NiñaDe12 so that way whoever needs them I can always have them at hand,” warns Monrroy and recalls that he and his partner have been trying to get pregnant since 2017, even with treatment of fertility, and at the same time they talked about the issue of adoption, until an article in a women’s magazine about the process made them decide. “Jime no longer wanted to try treatment, she is too demanding for her body, and on top of that, the pandemic came, so we put together the file,” she recalls.
I am uncertain about how the new project will work, but I have the full support of Jime.
I want to turn my life around, have a little more time for the family, enjoy the days with #girlof12
And I want to sell books, which is something I’ve always dreamed of.
Thank you for reading me❤️– ElFuturoLibreroDeTalar (@diemonrroy) January 11, 2022
But nevertheless, The arrival of #NiñaDe12 was just the first of the changes in the lives of Diego and Jimena. “They all came together. On the one hand, the physical fitness that she needed for the adoption process led to very bad tests, a visit to the nutritionist, a change in habits and 19 kilos less so far. On the other hand, the fact of enlarging the family made me rethink my life. I always had the idea of starting a bookstore, a year ago we set up a page with Jime to review our readings, so from that base I decided to tackle the online bookstore project. I am still in the process of gathering information and closing some things, I plan to leave between mid-March or April”, Monrroy advances and invites you to go through the Instagram account @bouquinistes.de.talar where both share their favorite reads. “We like to recommend reading, as if we were those booksellers who have their stalls on the banks of the Seine”, they say, convinced that they will be able to fulfill their dream as they fulfilled that of starting a family.
Why adopt older girls and boys?
Contrary to what many think, the adoption process in Argentina is far from being a road full of obstacles. The specialists agree that the main barrier is that, in general, the aspirations of the applicants to adopt contrast sharply with the reality of the girls and boys in adoption: the majority are over 6 years old, are part of groups of siblings or have some type of disability or health problem. In other words, there are girls, boys and adolescents waiting, but it is difficult to find adults willing to form a family with them.
Why? To begin with, there are very few registered in the adoption registries that would accept children over 11 years of age. According to January 2022 data from the National Directorate of the Single Registry of Applicants for Guardianship for Adoptive Purposes (Dnrua), there are nearly 2,600 files of people and couples listed for adoption in the country. But, of them, 89% are willing to foster only babies up to 2 years old; less than 9%, to girls and boys of 9 or more, and barely 1%, of more than 13.
For this reason, if the adoptive availability is extended, the waiting times for both – that of the children and that of the adults – are greatly shortened. What does it mean? That if at the time of registering in the registers, the applicants sign up with broader profiles and are willing to sponsor older girls and boys, they are quickly summoned.
