Authorities have been quick to cover up a new political poster in Havana claimed by the group calling itself El Nuevo Directorio. The graffiti, this time on Ronda Street, in El Vedado, at the entrance to the university stadium, read in black and giant letters “No to the PCC”, and was signed with the initials END of the clandestine organization.
It was exactly the same as the one that appeared at dawn on March 23 a short distance from there, in Aguirre Parkand in the same way it was presumed by the dissident organization in a video released in their social networks.
It did not last long, unlike others, who even this Monday continue to dirty the walls of the capital. Hours after the dissemination of the images, there were already at least three agents in civilian clothes and another three uniformed, according to this newspaper.
On the wall, the words had been erased with black paint.

“ Don’t worry, we know you’re going to have to spend a lot of paint from now on to cover the graffiti, as well as intimidate the students like you’re doing, and secretly (not so secretly) mobilize your UJC bloodhounds [Unión de Jóvenes Comunistas]everything will be unsuccessful”, had written The New Directory also on his Twitter account.
The group, named after the Directorio Estudiantil Universitario that confronted Gerardo Machado in republican Cuba in the 1930s, also claimed a similar act on March 20 on the façade of the Faculty of Physics of the University of Havana, also very close to this Monday, on the premises of Colina Universitaria.
A week before, in broad daylight, someone wrote with sand the motto “Down with the dictatorship, the murderous Castros” in the middle of Crespo and Trocadero streets, in Centro Habana. On that occasion, the elimination of the poster was also very fast, as this newspaper confirmed.
This type of protest – occasional in the 1990s with the slogan “Down with Fidel” – proliferated, especially after the massive demonstrations on July 11, 2021. In February 2022, a sign on the asphalt with the phrase “Patria y Vida” in Centro Habana, and a few weeks before, another painted on a wall in the Havana municipality of Santos Suárez, which read “down with Canel singao” mobilized a whole mob of police, military and civilian agents.
We put the video on our YouTube channel, here we leave the link https://t.co/xrCeTkA666 please subscribe, it is the best way to support us, and share, greetings, #END #Down with the Dictatorship #NoAlPCC #Homeland and Freedom pic.twitter.com/1mIGh94JPo
