How the events happened
The fire started at 5:50 a.m., in the apartment on the seventh floor of the Ecuador 1026 building, near Córdoba Avenue, while its occupants were sleeping and quickly spread to the upper floor, forcing the evacuation and rescue of all the occupants of the 14 floors.
As a result of the incident, 31 people had to be assisted and forced to deploy a large operation with eight firefighters and 22 SAME ambulances to control the flames and rescue the affected neighbors.
The day after the tragedy, prosecutor Sebastián Fedullo, in charge of the investigation of the fire, had confirmed that “the source of the fire was the lithium batteries of a skateboard that was in the living room” according to the preliminary report made by fire experts.
The five members of the family were dismissed with a religious ceremony at the temple and the Jafetz Jaim school of religious studies, and then buried in a cemetery in Lomas de Zamora.
