On the terrace of the entrance of the Mayor’s Office of Medellín, and in the middle of the rain, the mayor Daniel Quintero He appeared around 5:44 pm before a crowd of supporters that he had gathered after learning of the 3-month suspension by the Attorney General’s Office for alleged involvement in Politics.
(Daniel Quintero is suspended from the position of mayor of Medellín).
Moments before, the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, had announced the appointment of Juan Camilo Restrepo as mayor in charge of the capital of Antioquia.

“Medellín is not going to allow a coup. We are going to continue in this fight, they are not going to take us out“, began by saying the mayor, who had his wife and a large part of the municipal cabinet behind him.
The president recalled that 10 years ago, when the then Attorney General dismissed Gustavo Petrohe was part of the group of people who went out to demonstrate against that situation.
“President Duque has just announced that he has appointed a puppet mayor who plans to end the institutionality of Medellín. We call for a democratic but peaceful resistance. This is not going to stay like thisQuintero said.
Quintero added that the mayor chosen by Duque is close to the GEA (Grupo Empresarial Antioqueño). “He is one of the darlings of the GEA. That is what they wanted,” said the president.
