The National Police carried out this Friday morning the destruction of 1,240 firearms, as well as 35,609 ammunition and 755 suppliers, as part of the comprehensive security strategies carried out by the arms exchange program for food vouchers, and other weapons. seized during various operations carried out throughout the national territory.
The weapons were classified according to their ballistic structures: 344 revolvers, 213 pistols, 336 rifles, 271 shotguns, 8 submachine guns, 22 rifles, 45 pellets, and 1 carbine.
Prior to the act of destruction, the Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, said that with the implementation of this preventive program, the illegal possession of firearms, used in the commission of criminal acts, is counteracted.
He revealed that this Friday the “Crime Stoppers” platform will be launched, which will be enabled so that people can make their complaints anonymously.
