Tenants and producers of Merca Panama protested this morning on the market premises to demand the dismissal of an official whom they accuse of overstepping his duties and harassing workers.

Salvador Chavarría, from the association of producers and tenants of Nave Volcán, stated that the chief of operations, Fernando Rodríguez, has overstepped his duties to the point that he has placed ballots above $300, these fines are made by hand. and with an account number to make payments marked with a pilot.

He said that there are even officials who have requested his transfer to other provinces because they cannot work with Rodríguez, he also assured that the administration does nothing about it because “he has a sister secretary to the president” of the republic, Laurentino Cortizo, who protects him.

For his part, Eduardo Arevalo, Commercial Manager of National Markets of Cadena de Frío SA, assured that this is an open-door administration, so they are listening to the concerns of tenants and producers, and stressed that they will carry out the pertinent investigations in response to the complaints filed. and depending on what they show, they will take the corresponding actions and within the framework of the law.

“If it is shown that there is any irregularity or something against the law, we in our management will not allow this situation to be above what the law determines, he said, stressing that the head of operations has the benefit of the doubt until it is determined. prove any irregularity on the part of the authorities.
