They confirm the 96-month prison sentence for the former Patria Portugal Ombudsman

At the request of the Compliance Section of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, represented by prosecutor Johaira González, the Superior Court of Appeals, made up of magistrates Asunción Alonso, Fernando Alfonso and Luis Mario Carrasco, unanimously confirmed the decision of the compliance judge Execute the sentence of 96 months in prison for the former Ombudsman, Patria Portugal, for the crime of aggravated embezzlement, to the detriment of the Ombudsman.

The foregoing regarding the decision of June 20, 2023, when, at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, the execution of the sentence was ordered, due to an event that occurred in 2013. The defendant’s defense requested an appeal hearing, however, the The Court of Appeals considered that the criminal norm was not violated, therefore the execution of the sentence and the admission of the former defender to a penal center must be maintained.
