Fishermen from the Río Seco sector, Miranda municipality, in Falcón have kept the vehicular crossing of the Falcón-Zulia closed since early hours to demand that Pedro Tellechea, Minister of Petroleum and president of PDVSA, for the null sanitation of the Coro golf, which affected the fishing activity due to oil spills.
The information was reported by the journalist Joanne López through her profiles on social networks, together with a video in which a group of people with banners asserted that “PDVSA finished off the fishermen of Río Seco”, since, according to them, the document that authorizes the cleaning of the golfete was “shelfed”.
«We have no fish in our golf, we want urgent sanitation for our area. It is not fair that we go fishing and return empty-handed,” criticized one of those affected.
Manuel Roque, spokesman for a fishermen’s union, urged PDVSA to carry out “urgent sanitation on the coasts of Río Seco and in the surrounding areas, because they have caused a great effect due to the continuous spills on our coasts for two years.” ”.
He also asserted that “it is time for PDVSA to sit down with the fishermen and deliver the document that we have been waiting for a long time, we fishermen can’t take it anymore and that is why we will stay here today, tomorrow, and the day after if possible,” threatening with that “until they deliver that document to us, we will not leave here.”

According to those affected, there are more than 5,000 families affected in the area by the almost paralysis of fishing activity as a result of the deterioration of the coasts due to the PDVSA oil spills.
This same Monday there were also protests in Falcón due to problems in the water service and the shortage of gasoline.
