Protest caravan against the Buenos Aires government for the death of an 11-year-old student

The educational community of school 11 Republic of Haitifrom the Buenos Aires neighborhood 21-24 of Barracas, held a caravana of protest towards the Government Headquartersunder the motto “Not one kid less. Decent childhoods” to demand that “the comprehensive promotion and protection system” for children and adolescents in the City of Buenos Aires be urgently strengthened, after the death of an 11-year-old student.
Members of the school’s educational community and social organizations such as the Carlos Fuentealba Group, the Argentina Rebelde Movement, Barrios de Pie, Ademys, the Polo Obrero and the Socialist Workers Movement (MST).
The protesters blamed the government for Horacio Rodriguez Larreta with signs you could read “You can’t study when you’re hungry”“the school alone cannot, “the city government is responsible” or “laziness kills”.
“They say that the city is advancing and we are getting worse and worse,” Susana, a neighborhood resident who held a sign in her hands that said “laziness kills,” told Télam.
While the caravan advanced, a teacher from the school read a fragment of the story “A thousand cranes”, by the writer Elsa Bornemann, in honor of a teacher who died from a stray bullet and in whose honor the school has a multicolored grid as its symbol.
The family of the deceased student had presented a medical certificate in 2021 indicating the need for a hypercaloric food booster for the girl, but there was no intervention of the Zonal Ombudsman of the CABA Ministry of Education, according to the complainants.
The teachers affirmed that the girl arrived at school on Friday the 12th, became unbalanced, and was picked up by her parents after an hour, as a result of the fact that the SAME never arrived at the place to assist her.
