Around 9 a.m. today, Sunday, some 150 police officers from the Moquegua, Tacna and Lima Anti-Corruption Directorate (Dircocor), together with 25 representatives of the Public Ministry, carried out a mega-operation in which 17 people involved in the sale and purchase of admission exams at the National University of Moquegua (UNAM).

The director against corruption of the Police, General PNP Fredy López Mendoza, arrived in Moquegua and reported that the alleged criminal organization called “Los Académicas del Sur” was dismantled through house raids and the UNAM, where six applicants were intervened, who were found in flagrante delicto devices to obtain the answers of the Admission Process 2022 – Phase II.

The police authority indicated that the operation was born in August 2021 through a complaint from a father of a family, who was captured by the head of the organization named “David”. After the fact, the Police carried out intelligence investigations that concluded with the operation.

“In the proceedings, legal techniques were used, such as listening to audios, images from video surveillance cameras, and statements in which it was verified that not only were these irregularities carried out in the present process, but also in the admission of March 20,” Lopez Mendoza said.
Use of electronic equipment
The Police confiscated material consisting of earphones, laptops, spy-type micro cameras, microphones, retrotransmission antennas for the signal and cell phones, to transmit the answers to the applicants by third parties who solved the exams.
Preliminary, it was realized that the organization in which UNAM officials are immersed, charged from 5,000 soles for engineering careers, while for medicine careers they took up to 10,000 soles that parents gave them.
