The Paraguayan cooperative sector is preparing for the most important event that brings together hundreds of cooperative members from all over the world every two years. The appointment is at the Conmebol Convention Center – Luque, Paraguay, where key issues that make up the movement at a regional and global level will be discussed.

The great event, which promises to become the first and largest international gathering of cooperatives in the post-pandemic, bears the motto “The cooperative commitment to the reconstruction and care of our local and global community” and the participation of 1,200 people is expected.

The official presentation of the great international event was held today at the premises of the Federation of Multiactive Cooperatives of Paraguay (FECOMULP), and was in charge of the presidents of the host organizations in Paraguay; Cynthia Judith Páez Arce, from the Cooperativa Universitaria Ltda, Simona Cavazzutti, from the Confederation of Rural Cooperatives of Paraguay (CONCOPAR); Ana Beatriz Riquelme, from the Federation of Cooperatives of Paraguay (FECOPAR); Myriam Báez Rojas, from the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (FECOAC), César Guillermo Cruz Roa, from Panal Cía. of General Insurance SA; Jorge Cruz Roa, from the Federation of Multiactive Cooperatives of Paraguay (FECOMULP); and Carlos Núñez Agüero, from the Paraguayan Confederation of Cooperatives (COMPACOOP).

Ariel Guarco, president of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), visiting the country, explained that ten years ago the United Nations declared 2012 the International Year of Cooperatives, when he said: Cooperatives build a better world. “We had a long time of analysis, a decade of analysis to convince ourselves that really, through our work, we were building a better world, and finally, we put it as the motto for this year 2022, because today we are convinced, more than ever , that cooperatives build a better world” he declared.

For her part, Graciela Fernández, president of the Cooperatives of the Americas, expressed that the VI Summit will be focused on what the cooperative identity is, the history of the intercooperative, what was discussed at the XXXIII International Congress of SEOUL landing, see what principles could have changes in our continent, see what values ​​we have to revive in these complex situations.

Also, the economic reactivation through regional integration and as a third axis, sustainability, that is, the sustainable development objectives, that 2030 agenda that are complicated, see how we can transform them into action, beyond the theoretical framework, he pointed out .

He added that, at the end of those three days, after having achieved the “Final Declaration”, with the guidelines, what is the Congress of Cooperative Law begins, which is the ground wire of all the debates, because they make it up, above all; teachers, lawyers and those who manage public policy in matters of cooperativism.

This is going to be accompanied by the Youth Forum, the Forum of Parliamentarians, the Forum of Promotion Institutes, El Control, then, they are all very important elements to give visibility to what is the cooperative movement of America and In addition, to put on the table and give visibility to the Paraguayan cooperative movement, at a time of important situation and politics.
