Various demonstrations have been registered in the last hours at the national level after the frustrated coup d’état by Pedro Castillo and the assumption of Dina Boluarte as president. In Cusco this weekend, rather quiet marches and protests were carried out, however, various organizations and unions call for strikes and strikes starting this Monday, December 12.
Thus, the Departmental Federation of Workers of Cusco and the General Confederation of Workers of Peru – Cusco, They have called a strike for this Monday and a demonstration in Cusco, demanding the closure of the congress and a new Constituent Assembly.
Meanwhile, in the provinces of Canchis and La Convención, their defense fronts have called for an indefinite strike asking for a constitutional referendum. Street and highway blockades are expected to develop in these provinces.
On the other hand, the congressmen for Cusco: Guido Bellido, Ruth Luque, Kathy Ugarte, Alejandro Soto and Luis Aragónhave been declared personas ‘non grata’ for the region, with whom the protesters do not seek to mediate or hold meetings.
The unions that are promoting the protest measures in Cusco are: The Departmental Federation of Cusco Workers (FDTC)Tupac Amaru Cusco Revolutionary Agrarian Federation (Fartac), Cusco University Federation (FUC), Single Union of Workers of Peru (Sutep), the Cusco Regional Youth Assembly (Arejo), among others.
