The Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) detained in flagrante delicto five officials from the Carabobo regional police, who were allegedly stealing strategic material from the Petrochemical facilities of Venezuela (Pequiven), located in Morón, according to military sources.
Among the detainees is the chief commissioner José Montañez Romero Román, as well as officers Jairo Daniel Bazán Gautier, José Briceño Ruiz Kenedid, Osmel Josué Figueroa Galeno and José Gregorio Contreras Molina, all attached to the Morón Police Station, Carabobo state.
During the detention of the police officers, 9 thousand kilos of strategic iron-type material (gas conduit pipes belonging to the PDVSA company), an oxyfuel equipment, five oxygen cylinders and a domestic gas cylinder were seized.
In addition, the military seized three chargers, 39 9mm caliber cartridges, five telephone sets and three 9mm pistols: Glock, Tanfoglio and Pietro Beretta.
Along with the five police officers, Jesús Rafael Peraza Rodríguez was also arrested. According to the investigations of the GNB, the detainees are part of the Structured Group of Organized Crime Los Guaremales.
Those captured were handed over to the Public Ministry where they opened a file for illicit possession of a firearm and theft of strategic material, among others.
