Mexico City, Mexico.- The Ministry of the Interior reported that it had captured the person allegedly responsible for the homicide of a family who lived on the outskirts of the city of Matanzas.
The couple made up of Maykel González Medina and Lianet Lucía Medina were found dead yesterday along with their eight-year-old son. The victims were killed with machetes in the neighborhood near the textile company EddioTeijeiro (known as Bellotex), in the western province.
Official information specifies that the subject was detained on Jibacoa beach, in the province of Mayabeque, when he was trying to leave the country. They seized belongings that link him to the crime.
The note replicated by official media announced that the Matanzas authorities will give more details about the case in the near future.
CubaNet was able to confirm the facts with two neighbors of the family. One of these, on condition of anonymity, assured the outlet that the alleged murderer, 30, was a neighbor and friend of the family.
“He was military. He was in the FAR reserve, but currently he had a mechanical workshop that was where he killed Maikel”.
The body of Gonzalez Medina, owner of another mechanical workshop, was found in a grave next to the attacker’s workshop; while those of Lianet and the little one were found inside their own home.
“The reconstruction of the events suggests that he first killed Maikel and then went to his house for the money he had saved. There she found Lianet and the child, and murdered them too, ”says the neighbor.
The source also adds that the alleged killer stayed in town buying beer and spending more money than usual, while wearing jewelry that apparently belonged to Maikel.
Lianet Lucía is survived by her eldest daughter, also a minor, who was not at home at the time of the events.
