They arrest an alleged gang of thieves in Havana

Detienen a presunta banda de ladrones en La Habana

Mexico City, Mexico- A band specialized in deceiving citizens and then robbing them through the use of bladed weapons, would have been arrested this Friday. Mauro Torres’ Facebook page, a false profile linked to State Security, published the information on social networks.

According to this profile, residents of Basarrate Street, between Neptuno and San Miguel, in Plaza de la Revolución, confirmed the arrest of three individuals who contacted people over the Internet to exchange currency. Then they summoned them and there they robbed them, and threatened them with bladed weapons.

“They summoned them to buildings with entrances and exits, pretending that they lived there. When they reached the first or second floor, these individuals appeared with their faces covered and intimidated them with knives to steal their money and their belongings,” the aforementioned page recounted.

According to the publication, these robberies occurred in the Vedado neighborhood of the capital, in the afternoon.

Torres’ profile explained what the gang’s mode of operation was, made up of three people. “They said that the woman wrote on Telegram, one presented her face and initially received them, while the other assaulted them covered with a black and white ski mask. The knives were like cow killers,” she added.

At the end of January They were arrested two sellers of dollars from the informal market after a robbery with violence. Those responsible were hooded and with firearms at the time of the illegal sale of currency. The event occurred in the Chibás neighborhood of the Guanabacoa municipality, in Havana.

On that occasion it was also the profile of Mauro Torres who corroborated the news. “The alleged sellers of dollars summoned the victims to meet and after intimidating them with two firearms, they deprived them of the sum of 880 thousand pesos, chains and a bag. They were hooded and shot into the air,” commented the user managed by the political police.

Violent robberies on the island are becoming more and more frequent. Last December, a 58-year-old Cuban was hit in the head while they tried to rob him in the province of Pinar del Río. The victim was attacked with fists and stones by three people.

In the last weeks two Cubans were murdered in Camagüey to rob them. A couple of days ago, it was known that they found the lifeless body of the Camagüey taxi driver Guperto Rafael Cánovas Adán, 72 years old, who was murdered to steal his car. Previously, the murder of Yudel López Álvarez was known, who was reported missing on February 1 and later found lifeless.

The man, the father of two teenagers, was murdered to steal his cell phone and the rickshaw with which he worked.
