A man fell into the river on Monday from the footbridges of the Bosetti Falls, in the Iguazú Falls, an area that is overflowed by the rising waters coming from Brazil.
Misiones police spokesmen told Télam that the incident occurred around 11 a.m. Meanwhile, the Iguazú National Park reported that it had been notified that a man, whose personal details are unknown, had “thrown or fallen from the first balcony of Salto Bossetti, disappearing from the surface”.
According to the first inquiries, the head of the park ranger, Héctor Ball, indicated that a tour guide told him that a “citizen had taken off his shoes” and climbed on the railing from where he fell.
Investigators are trying to determine if it was a suicide or an accident by trying to take a picture with the cell phone, the sources consulted specified.
“At this time, the corresponding technical work is being carried out in the place, awaiting news about the appearance of the body, which due to the flow of water, volunteer firefighters cannot enter the place, whose sector was closed due to what happened”detailed the spokesmen.
Finally, they specified that a team from the Misiones Police, the Argentine Naval Prefecture, Volunteer Firefighters and park rangers work at the site.
In addition, the fact was brought to the attention of the Investigating Court on duty in said jurisdiction, the spokespersons reported.
