MIAMI, United States. — The Spanish blogger Laura Méndez was rebuked by several Cubans while she showed in a video the scarcity and tails that the inhabitants of the Island must do daily.
“And why do you come here, to eat shit?” An old woman reproached the young woman in the middle of a street. Other voices threatened to call the police to hold Méndez and another girl who was with him accountable.
Another of the locals went further and shouted “shit-eaters” at the young women.
“You guys are shit eaters. Shit-eaters what you are. You are not interested. You are not interested in anything. You have to see your country,” the man said.
Despite the pressure and the repudiation of some residents, the visitors did not shrink.
“We come to show what is happening; to teach the truth,” replied the blogger.
In his video, posted on TwitterMéndez recalled that Cubans must carry a ration card and queue to buy the only type of bread that is sold.”
“Here without a ration card they don’t serve you and they don’t give you bread. Look how many people are waiting in line to buy bread. There is only one type of bread”, assured the young woman before being questioned by the locals.
The blogger was surprised that, in the midst of the shortage, there were people who supported the Cuban regime.
“They are in favor. They are hungry and they are in favor!” Méndez sentenced.
The young Spanish woman also reminded Cubans that they should not give their opinion or speak ill of Spain, since it is a country they do not know.
“You do not know what is happening in our country. You only know what your news tells you, ”the blogger insisted.
