SLP, Mexico.- The Russian Government will send a batch of 50 modern Moskvitch to expand the fleet of taxis in the country, according to a report release issued by the Russian embassy in Cuba.

During the visit of the Minister of Transport from Cuba, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, to Russia, the Cuban official and the Vice Mayor of Transport and Industry of Moscow, Maxim Liksutov, signed a memorandum for the delivery of these vehicles.

“The Russian capital is willing to deliver a batch of 50 Moskovich vehicles to the Cuban Party, as well as consider the possibility of adapting its multimedia systems to Spanish,” said the note in X.

Russian vehicles will make up fleets of taxis in Havana and Varadero to alleviate urban transportation and provide “comfort” to travelers.

In a note published in Telegram The Moscow Department of Transportation reports that they have created a working group to develop the appropriate business model for the project.

“The Moscow transport complex is always ready to cooperate with colleagues from friendly countries, share their experiences and progress,” said Maxim Liksutov.

The news comes in a context in which the lack of fuel has paralyzed transportation in several parts of the country.

In Havana, the service state road taxis called Gazelle It has been suspended on more than one occasion due to lack of gasoline.

In this crisis it is worth asking if Russian cars will alleviate the transportation problem when the absence of fuel continues to affect the movement of Cubans.

They have been destined for provinces such as Pinar del Río and Matanzas, the latter with the largest tourist center on the Island.

He minister of Transportation has admitted that the situation of passenger transportation in the country is terrible, and is marked by fuel shortages and the poor state of the vehicle network.

Although the official had planned to improve the sector this year through several actions to overcome the crisis, which include facilitating the operation of new airlines, the launch of a floating dock to generate foreign currency income, the search for credits and the introduction of electric tricyclesthousands of Cubans continue without transportation facilities in their daily lives.
