At the proposal of legislator Fidel Zavala, in the session on May 26, the study of the project that incorporates the figure of hired assassins into the Penal Code will be included. They resolved it during the ordinary this Thursday.

Murder by order, in exchange for an economic consideration or other interest, is not contemplated in the Criminal Code as an autonomous punishable act and that purpose is the one pursued by the legislative proposal.

Whoever kills another by order, assignment or agreement, to obtain for himself or for a third party a recognition, an economic benefit or of any other nature, shall be punished with imprisonment from 15 to 30 years.

Whoever orders, commissions or agrees to the death of another, or whoever acts as an intermediary between the instigator and the perpetrator, will be punished with the same penalty.

In the event that the victim of the conduct described in the first and second subparagraphs of this article is a public official whose functions are expressly recognized in the National Constitution, the minimum penalty applicable shall be 20 years in prison.
