SANTO DOMINGO.- The deputy of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Victor FadulHe said this Thursday that Bill that levies a zero rate on the tariff of customs to certain goods, not would impact the prices of the basic basket and it would be a fatal blow to national production.
“In recent years we have seen an increase in imports, and it has not impacted the prices of the basic basket, which supports that it is not a correct decision by the government,” said the legislator for the province of Santiago.

In this sense, Víctor Fadul suggests that the government support the production of short-cycle crops, such as corn, tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, molondrón, sweet potatoes, among others, with the preparation of land, delivery of seeds, solidarity credits and technical assistance.
“This would help significantly increase the supply of these products and lower their prices in the markets for consumers and housewives,” he explained.
Similarly, it recommends weighing the subsidy for 2022 of 50% of the value of local purchases of corn, wheat, soybeans, barley, sorghum, fertilizers and chemical products; the refund of the fixed and ad valorem tax on the purchase of fuel for agricultural companies.
