These are the new S/1 coins of José Baquíjano y Carrillo and José Faustino Sánchez Carrión

Two new S/1 coins have been put into circulation as of today by the . One is alluding to José Baquíjano y Carrillo de Córdoba and the other to José Faustino Sánchez Carrión.

“Both currencies will circulate as of December 21, 2022,” highlighted the monetary entity.

The two coins are the fifth and sixth of the Numismatic Series “Builders of the Bicentennial Republic 1821-2021” and have been introduced in the context of the commemoration of the From Peru.

“Through this numismatic series, which consists of 9 coins, the aim is to spread the image and history of characters who had a relevant participation in the process for the independence of Peru, as well as to continue promoting the numismatic culture in our country” added the BCR.

What characteristics do these coins have?

The monetary entity highlighted that on the reverse of the fifth coin of the series, in the central part, the image of José Baquíjano and Carrillo de Córdoba. There is also a geometric design of vertical lines and the mark of the National Mint.

On the left side, the phrase “BICENTENARIO 1821-2021”, vertically, the denomination in number and the name of the monetary unit “1 SOL”. Next to the denomination, the Bicentennial isotype can be seen, as a symbol of the series. The name of the character is shown at the top: “JOSÉ BAQUÍJANO Y CARRILLO”.

On the reverse of the sixth coin in the series, in the central part, there is an image of Jose Faustino Sanchez Carrion. There is also a geometric design of vertical lines and the mark of the National Mint.
