He also said that the bivalent vaccine is expected to arrive in the country in the first quarter of this year, but he assured that it is being negotiated with the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, so that the first doses arrive in this month of January.

He reported that meetings have been held on the subject and it has been decided that for the moment there will be no restrictions on these passengers in Panama.

“One of the variants that is affecting China is the BQ1, which we already have here in the sixth wave, so there is no reason for us to have to block or reduce the entry of these passengers,” Sucre stressed.

On the other hand, the official stated that the cases of monkeypox are relatively controlled, since the diseases are advancing and international organizations are giving more data, it has been established that the contagion is not only by intimate contact, but also by contact with liquids from the blisters that form can be transmitted.

“In this way, it can be transmitted to relatives of patients who are isolated at home by having contact with these liquids, such as clothing and sheets. In addition, health personnel can be infected by handling these patients who are in the ward,” Sucre reported.

Hantavirus

Regarding the cases of hantavirus that are registered in the country, the Minister of Health said that there is already a public health, prevention and promotion team in West Panama, Los Santos and Herrera, which are the places where they have been presented most of the cases, to avoid an increase in these cases now that the holidays are approaching and to control it.

“The most important thing is to prevent rodents from approaching grains such as corn, so people are urged to keep these grains well protected and thus avoid their arrival at their homes,” he reiterated.
