The Minister of Health, Carla Vizzettiassured this Thursday that Argentina will have “a fourth dose” for immunization against the coronavirus for those people who have to travel to countries that do not include the Sputnik V among the authorized vaccines because it has not yet been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).
In this sense, he assured, that “from Argentina, as we have stock of vaccineswe are enabling the dose authorized by the WHO “so that those people who are going to travel to countries that do not allow entry to immunized with vaccines that were not approved by the international health organization, can do so.
Likewise, he remarked in dialogue with FM Radio Con Vos, that those who need this extra dose must “comply with the minimum intervals” between vaccines and with the application ages, in addition to “proving that they have to travel.”
We enabled the application of an additional dose of vaccine against COVID-19 for those who have to travel abroad and have received Sputnik V. We made the decision after the WHO postponed its evaluation to include it in the list of emergency vaccines.

Vizzotti stressed that the Gamaleya Institute, developer of the Sputnik V vaccine, “presented the more than 800 documents that (the WHO) had requested and the visit was scheduled” for the organization to evaluate the “emergency” approval of the Sputnik vaccine , but explained that said meeting was suspended due to the conflict arising from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Health, through a statement, reported this Thursday night that to apply new doses for travel reasons “It will be necessary to present the documentation that accredits the trip, comply with a minimum interval of four weeks from the application of the last dose and sign an informed consent.”
He specified that the application of these doses “will be subject to the particularities of those who request it, depending on their state of health.”
He explained that since this vaccination responds to a personal decision, “there must be a reliable verification of the trip and the signing of an informed consent where the conditions are made explicit.”
In another order, the minister recalled that within the framework of the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus, a booster dose is being called, which would be a fourth, for people over “50 years old who have received the Sinopharm vaccine and over 3 immunosuppressed years.
Vizzotti also referred to the article in the specialized journal The Lancet that highlighted the effectiveness of vaccines in Argentina and pointed out that “it was a huge effort in the midst of managing the pandemic and the vaccination campaign to be able to generate evidence and go through what is called the peer review process of a journal like Lancet that takes a lot of time, work and dedication of the teams”.
“It is a huge achievement that puts the vaccination plan in the place it deserves with the decisions that were made,” said the minister.
