Autonomous agencies, such as the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) and the Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece) should disappear, but this government will no longer have time to do so, admitted President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
He stressed that these and other bodies were created with the purpose of taking private interests to the highest rank and putting aside public service and the interests of the majority. There are things that are going to remain pending, but hopefully the bureaucratic, factional, sectarian and contrary to national interest structure continues to be dismantled
he held yesterday at his conference in the Treasury room of the National Palace.
He recalled that a constitutional reform was in his government’s plans, because administrative transformation is required, but can’t do it anymore, can’t do it anymore
in addition to the fact that it would be necessary to have three quarters of the votes in Congress: that generates a lot of controversy and those of the conservative bloc do not approve of anything
he underlined.
What will be done, he said, are the electrical and electoral reforms, among others. See what happens
. He insisted that organizations such as Cofece and Ifetel should disappear, because they were created to facilitate privatization, the dispossession of national assets.
When asked about the proposals that the head of the Executive Power must send to replace two commissioners who conclude their positions in Cofece and IFT, he reported that the possible candidates are being reviewed and that these organizations continue, despite the fact that they conduct themselves in the opposite direction. contrary to the national interest, he affirmed, and gave as an example the recent authorization issued by Cofece for a lithium mine to pass into the hands of a Chinese company, about which he was not informed “when it is very clear that there is a policy of defense of this strategic mineral resource, which we want to belong to the nation (…) of course we are dissatisfied”.
He explained that in the evaluation of the reforms that it is feasible to specify, since the change could not be made to have a new Magna Carta, at the risk of being bogged down, it was decided by those that have already been made, such as the one that prohibits the forgiveness of taxes , that corruption be a serious crime, the revocation of the mandate and remove privileges from the president. He now can be tried like any citizen and for any crime, he reminded himself.
Another profound reform was to raise to constitutional status the right to a pension for older adults and children with disabilities, as well as that of young people from poor families to receive a scholarship. The modification was also made to guarantee free medical care and medicines, the president stressed.
