Delgado after criticism of Leal for meeting on security

The Ministry of the Interior convened an inter-party meeting on Monday to discuss crime prevention policies. After attending, the sociologist and benchmark of the Broad Front on security issues, Gustavo Leal said he was “disappointed, surprised and angry” and that the portfolio “has no will” to make “any type of agreement.”
The Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, expressed at a press conference: “In the case of the Broad Front they would have complained if they were not summoned and if they were summoned they complained because they were summoned.”

Asked about what the opposition can contribute, if his management was a failure in terms of security, Delgado expressed that “you can always contribute, nobody has the whole truth, and there are situations, realities, types of crimes that are changing.”
Public safety is an issue that is national
“We all have to contribute to this and many other issues, public security is a national issue and especially the fight against drug trafficking; they should be State policies that transcend administrations. That is why going to a meeting and leaving with the bucket on and saying ‘it really doesn’t help me at all’ I think that this type of attitude is of no use to the country”, he pointed out.
“Everyone is great and knows how to handle themselves, I would have expected a responsible and constructive opposition in this. That does not mean agreeing, it means making proposals, some will come out, others will not, as happened before. But hey, obviously there is another party that is in the opposition,” said Delgado.
