There are no victims of clashes in Changuinola

In the face of clashes between demonstrators evicted from private land and the National Police in the city of Changuinola, Bocas del Toro province, the Ombudsman, Eduardo Leblanc González, reiterated the call for peace and sanity.

Leblanc González indicated that after a tour of hospitals, police stations, the Panamanian Red Cross, in emergency rooms and requesting the report in the morgue, it was possible to determine that “There are no deceased people.”

He also revealed that 14 people were being held until the afternoon, nine injured, three of whom are protesters and six from the National Police.

The Ombudsman’s Office will remain in place in order to seek an understanding between the parties and that peaceful coexistence returns to Changuinola.
