In the political exercise, those who assume a public function, including the Presidency of the Republic, become the epicenter of claims from the different social, economic and partisan groups, leaving little space to stop and think about human value.
Although many times, above all, those who carry with them a family valuation, take special moments to become ordinary citizens and share with dedication with others, particularly in moments of tragedy and major difficulties.
In the case of President Luis Abinader, who suspended his busy schedule to visit and encourage the miners buried by a landslide in Maimón, he touched my sensitive side and I’m sure that happened to thousands of Dominicans.
The interest shown by the president in favor of two human beings, whose lives are at great risk, is what we lack to live and value others as God commands. The sensitivity shown by the president should serve as an example to rescue the values that previously distinguished us as a society and that we have lost in a vertiginous way to the point of dehumanizing ourselves.
Although we are truly experiencing one of the most difficult moments of the century due to the covid-19 pandemic and the terrible effects of the war between Russia and Ukraine, we must make room to think about others, because united we will always be stronger.
Regardless of colors, religions or parties, Dominicans will always be brothers and as such we must consider, respect and understand each other. Thank you President for this gesture that serves as an example.
