The Uruguayan Ronald Araujo renews with Barcelona until 2026

The Uruguayan center-back Ronald Araujo renewed this Tuesday for three years with FC Barcelona until 2026, the Barça club announced.

“The contract is until June 30, 2026 and the termination clause is set at 1,000 million euros (1,069 million dollars),” Barça said in a statement.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan defender had a contract until June 2023, which is now extended for three more years.

Araujo, who arrived at the Barça subsidiary in 2018 from the Uruguayan Boston River for 5.2 million euros (5.5 million dollars), made his debut with the first team in the 2019/2020 season in which he played six games.

Since then, his progression has been meteoric and he has become an essential piece of the Barcelona defense, where he has acted both as a central defender and as a right back.

The Uruguayan international has scored four goals this season with Barça.

The signing of the player’s renewal will take place on Friday in an act with the media and without fans.
