After the recent changes in the Ministry of Economy, finally, the Government made official the transfer of the Secretary of Domestic Trade to that portfolio, which operated under the purview of the Ministry of Productive Development.
Although the change was announced a month ago, as of today the transfer of the Secretary of Domestic Trade to the economic team, through Decree 404/2022, which published wallet this Friday.
However, the transfer of Secretary of Domestic Trade It will exclude some specific functions that will depend on the Secretary of Industry in the Ministry of Productive Development.
The Government reported this Friday that the change was adopted “in order to consolidate the national policy for the reduction of inflation rates aimed at price control under the same authority”.
In this sense, the entire economic team, led by Silvina Batakis, will seek from all its areas to work on a strategy that allows controlling the escalation of prices in recent months, since they increased by 36.2% until June.
In this regard, President Alberto Fernández stated weeks ago that it is urgent to “find mechanisms so that, internally, prices do not rise as international prices do.”
The portfolio will also have as a priority to guarantee the continuity of the Care Prices program, which was recently updated with an average quarterly increase guideline of 9.3%, and with a reduction in the list of products.
