The Solemn Session closes the Quito Festivities

During the Solemn Session, awards will be given to people or institutions that work for the city or have had an outstanding work.

The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 6. The Solemn Session in which the mayor of Quito, Santiago Guarderas will participate, will end the holiday for the festivals of the Spanish foundation of the city.

The event will take place in the Sucre National Theater, in the Historic Center. There, the decorations that the municipality awards each year to people who have contributed to the development of the city and the country or have had an outstanding participation during the last year will be delivered.

In ordinary session 186, the Metropolitan Council It already approved last November the name of those who will receive the following awards:

Great Necklace ‘Rumiñahui’ decoration, Aimed exclusively at Heads of State or distinguished national or foreign personalities who stood out for their service to humanity. On this occasion it will be delivered posthumously to Rodrigo Paz Delgado (+) former mayor of Quito.

Great Necklace Decoration ‘San Francisco de Quito’, created for personalities or institutions of great importance that have stood out for some action that transcends the local, national or international community. This year the winner is the cosmetologist Noemí Palma, creator of the South American Academy of Beauty.

Great Necklace Decoration ‘Sebastián de Benalcázar’, to ministers and secretaries of State, ambassadors and in general, holders and members of the State Functions determined in the Constitution or personalities of similar rank who have rendered relevant services to the city. In this year, this decoration it is deserted.

Great Collar Decoration ‘Luis Héctor Chislain de Carondelet and Barón de Carondelet ‘, aimed at foreign personalities who have stood out for their activities for the benefit of the city of Quito, this year it will be received by the entomologist and researcher biologist Giovanni Onore.

Award for Sports Merit ‘Ciudad de Quito’, for the Ecuadorian athlete who has excelled in an exceptional manner in any sporting discipline during the year, be it nationally or internationally. The award goes to gymnast Pablo Calvache.

Decoration ‘María Verónica Cordovez’, Aimed at entities or people who, with their capacity, effort and initiative, have fulfilled a preponderant task for the benefit of the safety of the inhabitants of the Metropolitan District of Quito. The distinction is for the Project ‘I live my neighborhood without drugs’, of the Police.

Decoration ‘Federico González Suárez’, Created for prominent personalities from the academic world, the distinction is for Enrique Terán, PhD.

Decoration ‘Eugenio Espejo’, to personalities in the biological and natural sciences, for women of the May Day Platform.

Decoration ‘José Gualberto Pérez’, awarded to prominent personalities in the physical and exact sciences, the recipient of the award is José Diego Caiza Guevara.

Decoration ‘Antonio Quevedo’, to prominent personalities in international politics, this year the one who obtains this recognition is the ambassador of United States, Michael J. Fitzpatrick.

Decoration ‘Aurelio Espinosa Pólit’, given to prominent personalities in the world of literature, this year’s winner is Maria Clara Sharupi.

Decoration ‘Manuela Cañizares’, Aimed at personalities who have stood out in the defense of human rights, the distinction was obtained Pablo Iturralde.

Decoration ‘Oswaldo Guayasamín‘, delivered to prominent personalities in the visual arts, this year’s winner is José Bastidas.

Decoration ‘Jonatás Sáenz’, For personalities who have excelled in the promotion and defense of social inclusion, the winner is Maria Gabriela Quiroga.

Decoration ‘Carlos Montufar’, awarded to municipal officials, companies and administrations, who have developed exceptional work for the benefit of the city, the distinction is for Roberto Andrade Pazmiño.

Decoration ‘Pedro Pablo Traversari’, Aimed at personalities from the world of musical arts, this year the award goes to the band Guardaraya.

In addition, it was resolved to award honorable mentions for their participation and service to the community, to the following institutions and individuals: Radio HCJB, Asociación de Voceadores de Pichincha, Ronier Bladimir Ramírez Sandoya (+), Carlos Gallardo De La Puente, Alejandro Vinueza, Patricio Mena, Edison Gabriel Paucar Tufiño, María Fernanda Heredia, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and César Carmigniani.

The Solemn Session will be broadcast through the official channels of the Municipality in Twitter and Facebook.

As part of the festivities, yesterday (Sunday, December 5) the Quito Serenade was held with the presence of Guarderas and the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso.
