After several days of intense sunshine, the long weekend ends with a series of weather alerts issued by the NMS (National Meteorological Service), which indicated that there will be storms, strong winds and snowfall.
As detailed the organism, there is a yellow and orange alert due to strong winds in much of Patagonia and the center and northwest of the country. In turn, the NMS warned that there are snowfall alerts for the Neuquén, Río Negro and Chubut mountain ranges.
For his part, the NMS He pointed out that there will be storms in the provinces of Corrientes and Misiones, for which it is recommended to take precautions, especially avoiding outdoor activities.
The areas with a yellow alert for winds that reach between 30 and 65 kilometers per hour (km/h) are the south of the province of Santiago del Estero, most of Córdoba, Santa Fe and La Pampa.; also the northwest of the province of Buenos Aires, the south of San Luis, the southwest of Mendoza, all of Río Negro and Neuquén and a large part of Chubut.
In addition, in Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca and La Rioja, the arrival of the Zonda is expected, with winds between 30 and 45 km/h and gusts that may exceed 70 km/h.
There are also orange wind alerts for Río Negro on the Pilcaniyeu and Ñorquincó plateaus and for the towns of Nueve de Julio, El Cuy and Veinticinco de Mayo. This will also affect almost the entire province of Neuquén: Loncopué, Ñorquín Añelo, Pehuenches, Chos Malal, Minas, Catán Lil, Collón Curá, Zapala, the lower zone of Aluminé, Huiliches and Lácar.
Meanwhile, snowfall will occur in the Huiliches and Lácar mountain ranges, in the South of Aluminé, and in Los Lagos, in Neuquén. The accumulated snow may reach between 30 and 40 centimeters in height and the presence of rain is not ruled out.
Where storm warnings apply
In accordance with the organismin Corrientes and the southeast of Misiones there is a yellow alert for storms of varying intensity and accumulated precipitation values between 15 and 40 millimeters are expected.
There will also be “strong electrical activity, very intense gusts and occasional hail.” The hail fall is expected to affect the Corrientes towns of Curuzú Cuatiá, Mercedes, Paso de los Libres and San Martín.
