Members of the Independent Union of Workers of the Autonomous Metropolitan University (Situam) held a demonstration yesterday in front of the Federal Labor Court for Collective Affairs, in Mexico City, to once again reject a decision by said body that prevents them from exercising their right to strike .

Starting at 12:30 p.m., a group of trade unionists blocked the Picacho-Ajusco highway for about 90 minutes, which affected vehicular traffic in the area, but the protest was lifted after they were guaranteed that a commission would be received by the Judge Milene Montero Álvarez, who will be in charge of analyzing the case.

As reported in this newspaper, the Situam leadership denounced that on December 20 and 23, they presented two strike calls to demand a 30 percent salary increase, but both were rejected.

Pamela Gómez Suárez, general secretary of Situam, indicated that yesterday they presented a third summons to strike, whose acceptance or rejection could be announced today.

The judge granted an appointment to the representatives of Situam today at 10 am.
