The “Expreso del Plata I” will link the port of Juan Lacaze with that of Buenos Aires, for the transport of cargo trucks.

This is specially built in China, will start operations on May 30 and has capacity for 52 trucks in 4500 square meters. It will facilitate the simultaneous loading and unloading of vehicles, which will significantly reduce the duration of the operation.

In this way, Línea del Plata plans to move about 20,000 trucks a year. With a planned frequency of ten weekly trips, from Monday to Friday, or an average of 44 monthly.

As announced by the firm, the service will depart from Juan Lacaze at 04:00 a.m. and will arrive in Buenos Aires at 08:30 a.m., to return to the Argentine capital at 8:00 p.m. and return to the Uruguayan port at 00:30 a.m. hours.

This addition will reduce operating costs for carriers and improve safety. In addition to reducing wear and tear on trucks and routes, by having to travel fewer kilometers. To this is added the improvement at the environmental level as a result of the reduction of the carbon footprint due to the lower use of the units.

Likewise, the commissioning of this new river line for ro-ro cargo will have a positive impact on Juan Lacaze by promoting the creation of jobs and indirect services.
