The night of last Tuesday, June 25, will be marked by the tragedy in Rionegro, Antioquia, where seven people lost their lives on a farm in the Cabeceras village.

Among the victims, three men were identified from the town of Bohórquez, in Campo de la Cruz, Atlántico: Marlon Páez, Luis Guillermo Canoles and Jesús García.

These bricklayers, who had recently arrived in the department of Antioquia in search of employment opportunities, were brutally murdered along with four other individuals in an armed attack perpetrated by a group of armed men.

The incident, carried out by approximately ten armed individuals, triggered an immediate response from local and military authorities.

For the moment, the mayor of Rionegro, Jorge Rivas, regretted the wave of violence and called a security council to address the situation.

Investigations indicate that the perpetrators fled towards Carmen de Viboral, leaving behind rifle cartridges and a trail of devastation. The Government of Antioquia has offered a reward of up to 50 million pesos for information leading to the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the Seventh Division of the Army launched an operation to capture those responsible, while the National Police began an exhaustive investigation.

The community, affected by the event, cries out for justice while Rionegro remains on high alert due to the threat of more violence.
